The painting was inspired by an early morning encounter with a polar bear hunting along the icy shoreline.

I am excited that this painting has been selected to be part of the "Visions Adjoin" Exchange Exhibition 2020, between two national societies -National Watercolor Society, United States and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, Canada! www.cspwc.ca

Dates: February 13-April 17, 2020 in San Pedro, California, United States and June 10-July 18, 2020 in Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada.
This painting was inspired by sketches done on location when i spent time on the sea ice at an emperor penguin colony in spring time ( late October through early November ). It was Incredible to observe the dedication of the parents taking turns and making the long march out to the sea ice edge and return to feed the rapidly growing and hungry chicks!
